Carpet beetle
The main types of carpet beetle found are the variegated and the black carpet beetle.
They are usually about 5mm long and the larvae look similar to tiny grubs or caterpillers. The larvael stage lasts around 9 months before pupating and adults live for another month or so.
It is the larvae that cause most damage to carpets, usually starting along the edges and in areas behind furniture that is rarely moved for cleaning.
To prepare for a carpet beetle treatment, furniture should be moved and all carpeted areas vacuumed. The contents of the vacuum should then be disposed of.
All floor areas should be thoroughly cleaned prior to being treated by North Shore Pest Control.
