Wasps

There are over 12000 different species of wasps in Australia. However, the main pest wasps are the European Wasp and the Paper Wasp. It is the Paper Wasp that most people notice. They build their nests under eaves, carports, awnings, window frames, vegetation, even under stairs, tables and chairs.

A wasp’s sting is very painful and sometimes it is dangerous, especially for persons with allergic reactions. European Wasps are very aggressive but Paper Wasps will normally only attack people if their nest is threatened. Protective clothing should be worn in conjunction with the use of appropriate chemicals.
